Tunisie

201707, photographer Kristof Vadino, Tunisie, Foyer of the Tunisian Red Cross in Médenine, Tunisia.
Joy, 21 years old, from Nigeria. She was also in the rubber boat that left Libya on May 27th. The fuel was finished after a few hours of navigation. For two
and a half days they drifted out into the open sea, without eating or drinking. A fisherman's boat saw them and alerted the Tunisian coastguards, who
brought them to the Foyer CRT (Tunisian Red Cross).
She saw people being killed in Tripoli. Her eyes are of a merry gentle and intelligent kind and she is of stunning beauty, it is hard to imagine her on the hell
of Libya. But when she begins to tell the sinking of the boat and in particularly the hell of Libya, her eyes hide from a place you hardly dare to imagine. She
spent three months in a private prison, guarded by gangsters. Some Hamza boys, as they were called, had stopped the truck carrying them across
Libya. Together with the others she was beaten and tortured, waiting for her family to raise enough money to pay the ransom.
